The association is based on old movies that fit that gangster stereotype, it’s not like they’re called “Italian X” and implied they’re Mafiosi. It honestly baffles me, especially when our launch celebration skin, Gladiator Draven, is Good Mafia For Life Shirt as stereotyped as the Mafia skin line. It’s more Italian-Americans I would assume. For what is worth, I’m an Italian player – one who grew up in Sicily, where the Mafia is pretty much still a reality. Never had a problem with the name and I find the change pandering. None of the other Italian players I know of, either from IRL or the defunct Italian forum, had any problems with it. A “mafia” is a crime syndicate. There’s the Russian mafia. I have never considered the mafia skin line to be offensive towards Italians in any way, shape or form.
